What is Anti-Microbial Technology and how does it work?

Anti-Microbial Technology describes the collective knowledge, expertise, and methods of using additives to create products that are permanently protected against microbes.

What is the difference between Anti-Microbial and Anti-Bacterial?

Anti-Microbial Technology is effective against a wide spectrum of microbes: this includes bacteria, mould, fungi and even viruses. Anti-Bacterial Technology, on the other hand, is only effective against bacteria.

What are Silver Ions and how do they work?

Silver Ions integrated with porcelain help to kill existing microbes as well as limiting any microbe growth by 99.99%.

Silver Ions penetrate the cell wall of the microbe to make it more susceptible to environmental conditions, high temperatures and other treatments. This limits the microbe’s ability to grow and reproduce.

Where is it used?

The use of silver is an established method of creating anti-microbial surfaces within the hospitality and healthcare industry. Crème is the first ceramic tableware to employ silver to produce an Anti-Microbial tableware collection.

The Testing and Results of using Anti-Microbial Tableware


•  To examine the anti-microbial property of Crème items, the ISO 22196:2011 method was employed by the Intertek laboratory.
•  The tests are carried out on both Treated (with Silver Ions) and Untreated (Without Silver Ions) porcelain tableware.
•  The tests consider the effect of microorganisms on various substances for 24 hours.


•  The untreated test pieces showed substantial microbial growth.
•  The treated test pieces showed a considerable reduction in microbial presence.
•  The tests proved that the Crème Anti-Microbial products, which were treated with Silver Ions, were 99.99% anti-microbial.
