Our latest event at the Lockhart Innovation Centre was held in partnership with Sodexo to promote Veganuary earlier this month. Read on to find out more...

We're heading towards the end of Veganuary, for most this will mean reverting to their meat and dairy ways but for the suppliers that attended Sodexo's Veganuary Event they'll continue producing food and drink for the 600,000 of us Brits that lead the plant-based lifestyle.

Sodexo held this event at our Lockhart Innovation Centre, the reason for the event was to teach people and make them aware of the benefits of continuing this lifestyle beyond Veganuary. A total of nine suppliers that create and produce vegan products set up their food and drink stalls, offering tasters to convince people that just because it's different doesn't mean it won't have a high quality taste.

Supplier Showcase

Brakes Food (@brakesfood) attended the event and showcased their vegan cake treats and pastries, this was a key way to show that you can still enjoy all the sweet things in life but it be made in a plant-based and more nutritious way.

Sodexo also welcomed Town and Country Fine Foods (@tcfinefoods) to the Veganuary Event. By looking at the delicacy it takes you by surprise that all the ingredients are vegan based, not only presenting attractive food but making it good for the environment by not using dairy products.

Vegan fizzy drinks? Remedy Kombucha (@remedydrinks) have got you covered, they flaunted their 100% vegan drinks at the event with only a small variety of flavours they offer. Priding themselves in the benefits of the drinks which include rich antioxidants to help the body fight illness, something which non-vegan fizzy drinks don't do. Alongside them we were faced with a range of nutritious vegan food, we couldn't stop our eyes drawing to the vegan burgers. Merchant Gourmet (@merchantgourmet) showed off their lentil and seed pouches, and luckily for us we got to see the outcome of what you can make when only using plant-based foods which assembled a healthy looking burger.

Having spent the last year working on our rye breads we are pleased to be at a point where we are now only working with British grown organic rye at the bakery, all stoneground. A small part of a big journey but it is great seeing the progress the team are making month on month. We also got to enjoy the smell of fresh bread at the Veganuary event, Paul Rhodes Bakery (@paulrhodesbakery) educated us on the making of vegan bread and we were fortunate enough to be able to experience vegan potato bread. Once again, another plant-based supplier experimenting with food to add health benefits. Coming to the end of the event we got to see first hand a vegan dish being made, Chantelle Nicholson the chef owner of Tredwells. This was an insightful way to see how quick and easy it is to make a plant-based dish, experimenting with different vegan ingredients that you wouldn't think of. Chantelle confidently and with expertise concocted a dumpling meal, during this she showed us how to create egg white from chickpea can juice. The outcome was incredible.
