catering trends

We have been looking at a few trends that you might want to consider for your catering businesses this year. From food walls to vegetable-based cocktails, there is something for every caterer to get involved in...

Instagrammable Food

Since the first download of instagram, photos of food have always been popular on social media and have now created a new-wave of 'insta-friendly' restaurants across the globe.

Instagrammable food is food that looks good enough to share on social media. Typically, it is displayed in a unique or new, exciting way on the plate. A few examples are different shaped ice cream or using aesthetic ingredient's.

Having instagrammable food is also a great way of spreading the word about your food as foodies will want to be part of the trend and spread the word by sharing photos on social media.

Grazing Tables

Grazing tables first became a trend back in 2019 when the first grazing tables caterer proved that buffets can be works of art.

A grazing table is similar to a buffet but the food is designed to look visually more appealing and easy to graze on. Food is usually spread out on a table but can be on a platter, wooden board or any flat surface.

Grazing tables can be either sweet or savoury or both and come in many different sizes and shapes. Grazing tables are a great way of creating a sociable atmosphere and to get customers talking and tasting new recipes and ingredients.

Food Walls

Back in 2021, food walls filled with doughnuts were trending with weddings as it was easier to cater to guests rather than paying for a huge wedding cake.

Although food walls are more popular for weddings, they can be a fun way to cater to your customers as well as a great talking point.

A food wall typically has doughnuts or cakes hanging or placed on the wall but if you want healthier options, you can always use fruit, smoothies or even packaged salads. You can have simple rows or arrange the food into words or shapes. The options are endless!

Bottomless Brunch

For a set price, customers can enjoy a late breakfast or early lunch with as many drinks they want within a set time. Many restaurants are already using this trend to entice customers in, transform a quiet period and to grow their social media traffic. Its not to late for your business to join in too!

All you need to do is create a set food menu your customers will enjoy (usually breakfast and lunch type of food) and add an option of a cocktail, wine or beer for them to drink. Its that easy!

Vegetable-Based Cocktails

Vegetable based cocktails are essentially vegetables mixed with alcohol such as gin and asparagus or tequila and avocado. These unique creations are becoming more popular with bartenders incorporating more vegetables into cocktails.

Even though using vegetables in cocktails does not necesserily sound very appealing, they can have health benefits for your customers. Instead of using sugary and acidic mixers, vegetables have vitamins, minerals, antioxidant's and other bioactive compounds.
