An app that instantly converts standard 2D kitchen designs into fully interactive 3D models was this week unveiled by the project arm of Lockhart Catering Equipment.
Operators visiting the Catering Design Services stand at Lockhart’s Manchester supplier and customer event were given an early glimpse of the technology, which the company says is the first of its type in the market.
Lockhart was providing demonstrations of the tool, which allows users to point an iPad at a 2D paper drawing and then view the design in full 3D format on screen. By tilting the iPad, users are able to view the design in 3D at any angle and take a ‘virtual’ tour of the kitchen.
Graham Bean, national design director at Lockhart, said: “This app takes 3D design to the next level with augmented reality. Lockhart is a company that prides itself on innovation and we like to keep on the edge of that — that is what the business is all about right now.”
Graham Bean says Lockhart’s design service has been enhanced by an app takes 3D design to the next level with augmented reality.
Catering Design Services specialises in the design, supply and installation of commercial kitchens, dovetailing neatly with Lockhart’s core own-label and third party catering equipment supply business.
Bean said the app was likely to be made available on select projects. “We are currently working with the third party behind the app to develop something exclusive for us,” he added.
