  3. 5 Exciting Non-Alcoholic Cocktails for Dry January Customers
Lockhart Non-Alcoholic Cocktails
Whether it’s for a charity ‘Dryathlon’ or just to give the body a break after all that festive indulgence, you may find that many of your bar or restaurant customers are opting to have a ‘Dry January’ and sipping on alcohol-free drinks instead.

This is a great time for you to get creative with your cocktails and shake up some exciting mocktail options instead, that will be so full of flavour that your customers won’t even notice that there’s anything missing.

Not just for kids, alcohol free cocktails can be made super sophisticated with premium mixers, cordials, juices and sodas, and presented in elegant barware to keep them interesting. To inspire your mocktails menu this January, here are five delicious and interesting non-alcoholic cocktail recipes and ideas that you may want to keep on offer all year round.

Non-Alcoholic Moscow Mule

A mule, without the alcoholic kick – anyone who loves the fiery flavour of a Moscow Mule will love an alcohol-free version. As a Moscow Mule is made boozy with the addition of vodka, simply leaving that out won’t give it any less of a bite as it will still have the punchy ginger beer and lime juice. Easy! Serve it up in our Copper Moscow Mule Mug as above for an authentic cocktail drink that’s Dry January-friendly.

Non-Alcoholic Pomegranate Mojito

Fresh, fruity mojitos are the perfect easy-drinking cocktail, and they’re just as delicious without the white rum. Swapping the alcohol for juicy muddled pomegranate or a dash of pomegranate cordial keeps it interesting – add an alcohol free pomegranate mojito to your mocktail menu this January and it won’t be difficult for your customers to resist the booze. Present your virgin mojito in cool drinkware such as a Mini Stainless Steel Milk Churn piled high with crushed ice and fresh mint sprigs, of course!

Tropical Watermelon Lemonade

The tiki bar trend was big news in 2016, with more and more tiki-themed bars popping up across the UK – yet customers still can’t get enough of tropical tiki cocktails. Traditional tiki cocktail recipes include lots (and we mean lots) of alcohol, but it’s easy to be inspired by their fruity flavours to create a selection of virgin cocktails that will bring a dash of summer to a chilly January.

Create an alcohol free watermelon lemonade by mixing up watermelon and lime juices, adding sugar syrup and mint, and topping with real lemonade – then serve in a tiki cocktail mug such as our Easter Island Tiki Mug or Skull Tiki Mug for an authentic tiki bar experience.

Apple, Elderflower, Cucumber and Mint Fizz

After all of the heavy drinking of December, the zingy flavours of apple, mint and cucumber paired with sweet elderflower would make for a really delicious non-alcoholic cocktail. Make this an upscale drink option by using elderflower cordial and premium apple soda, muddled with fresh mint and cucumber. Pour into a Terracotta Pot (lined with a food safe Serving Cup) and then top with edible flowers for an Instagram-worthy, booze-free beverage!

Pineapple Basil Iced Tea

A Long Island Iced Tea is a timeless cocktail that’s most definitely off the menu for Dry January – but it doesn’t even contain any tea, anyway. However cold black tea does make a wonderful basis for non-alcoholic cocktails, especially when it’s sweetened and made tastier with interesting flavour combinations such as pineapple and basil. Shake up strongly brewed black tea with chopped fresh pineapple and basil leaves and ice until cold, then serve in a pretty teacup such as Churchill’s elegant Blue Bramble Georgian Teacup and Saucer for a quirky afternoon tea that’s guilt-free.

What other non-alcoholic cocktails do you like to serve in your bar? Are you noticing that there are more customers avoiding alcohol in January? We’d love to hear your thoughts, so leave us a comment below or send us a tweet at @BunzlLockhart.
